ColorSpan Announces 3M[TM] MCS[TM]
Warranty for ColorSpan 5400uv Series

MacDermid ColorSpan, Inc., the
worlds leading supplier of
UV-curable inkjet printers for the
display graphics market, today
announced a new 3M™ brand UV-curable
ink set available for the highly
successful ColorSpan 5400UV series
of inkjet printers. The new inks,
3M™ Piezo Ink Jet Ink Series 5400UV,
are optimized for use with the
ColorSpan 5400uv series printers and
3M graphic media.
3M™ Piezo Ink Jet Ink Series 5400UV
are durable, highly flexible and
conformable, allowing for
application even on complex
contours, rivets and corrugations.
Applications include fleet and
vehicle graphics, indoor and outdoor
signs, banners and flexible sign
faces. Backed by the 3M™ MCS™
Warranty, finished graphics using
3M™ Series 5400UV inks may be
warranted for up to five years of
outdoor use.
The inks, available exclusively from
MacDermid ColorSpan and their
worldwide network of authorized
resellers, can be added to any
ColorSpan 5400uv series printer in
place of the standard SolaChrome UV
inks. A customer-installable
conversion kit is available that
includes six, 1-liter inks, two
ultra-violet bulbs designed for
optimum curing of the new ink and
instructions for installation.
The new inks are available in cyan,
magenta, yellow, black, light cyan
and light magenta and offer a wide
color gamut for easy-to-obtain color
reproduction. Color profiles for 3M
graphic media are available to
download from www.colorspan.com and
www.3Mgraphics.com.
Bruce Butler, director of marketing,

they can print to nearly any
substrate, were not recommended for
vehicle wraps and fleet graphics

SolaChrome UV inks that provide
excellent overall performance on a
wide variety of rigid and flexible
substrates or the premium 3M Piezo
InkJet Ink Series 5400UV for
applications that require
flexibility and conformability in
addition to printing on a variety of
rigid and flexible materials.”
Starting at a US MSRP of just
$54,995, the ColorSpan 5400uv series
consists of four models: ColorSpan
5440UV (4-color); ColorSpan 5445UV
(2 x 4-color); ColorSpan 5460UV
(6-color) and the ColorSpan 5465UV
(2 x 6-color). All four models have
a 54-inch (137cm) print width and
feature a set of integrated tables
that fold up and can extend outward
to accommodate rigid media in excess
of 8-feet (244 cm) in length. The
tables fold down and out of the way
for printing on roll-fed media while
conserving precious floor space.
The ColorSpan 5400UV series uses the
latest generation variable drop
volume piezo-electric print heads.
Each industrial-quality,
extended-life print head can eject
variable-sized micro droplets to
achieve addressable resolutions of
600×300, 600×600 and 1200×600-dpi.
The 5460UV and 5465UV six-color
models achieve even higher apparent
image quality - up to 1800-dpi.
